I’m Linda or as my co- workers and clients call me LG.
This is my story of what led me to helping others, especially women to regain their lives.
First a little about me. I grew up in Oregon, not far from Portland at the base of Mt. Hood.
I loved exercising, but I never really had an interest in sports.
From the time, I was a freshman in high-school I wanted to be a Marine.
And I made that dream come true. I turned 18 in boot camp. I Loved the challenge of being a Marine and accomplishing what I always wanted to do. I did it! Once a Marine always a Marine. I will carry that pride with me forever.
Once a Marine always a Marine. I will carry that pride with me forever.
I married and settled in Illinois with my husband. We were the proud parents of 3 amazing sons. With each pregnancy, I packed on the pounds but I could lose it by calorie restriction and exercise. Probably not the healthiest way with diet shakes and drugstore diet pills. I didn’t know any better.
I decided to pursue a career in nursing. Raising 3 busy boys while still working and going to nursing school. Can you say STRESS! I packed on the pounds.
Work, family, life stress. Not taking time for me. It all took its toll. I once again gained weight. Around this time my father was ill with obesity, diabetes, heart failure. Tragically He passed away due to these conditions. He was 62. That was my wakeup call. I seriously took a look at my health. Being a nurse, I knew the road I was on was NOT good. My A-ha moment. Struggling to tie my shoes one morning before work. I sat on the kitchen floor and cried. All I could think of was not being able to care for myself and being a burden. I just couldn’t do that to my kids. Time to do something. Like so many I joined a gym. I walked in, looked at the equipment. I Had no idea where to start. I felt like a big fat blob. I left in tears. How could I have become this person?
The gym manager called me when I did not come back in over a month. I am so grateful. She asked me about enlisting the help of a personal trainer. I had always thought that was a silly idea. Who needed such an extravagance? But I was desperate. I needed help. It was literally my life at stake. My trainer was so much help.
It took almost a year. In the beginning, I felt like I was in rehab. I was frustrated pissed off and depressed. My body could not do what I wanted it to. With my trainers help, guidance and patience I lost over 100 inches and over 80 pounds. I got my life back! I became healthy. No diet pills or unhealthy methods but with Exercise and good nutrition.
I changed mentally and physically. It was not easy. I accomplished things I NEVER thought I could. Including a half marathon and a mud race. I had become an athlete. I even like myself now!
I decided I wanted to help others regain their lives. If I could do it I could help others. In healthcare, I see so many times we treat the symptoms but we do not address the cause. So many health problems can be solved by a healthier lifestyle.
I became a certified fitness trainer. I opened my own business out of my garage and online. I absolutely love helping women get their mojo back. Physically and mentally.
I’m passionate about creating an environment where women empower women, building their physical, emotional and mental wellness together. My own personal experiences with physical ups and downs allow me to truly connect with my clients. I know what it’s like to lose yourself, to lose self-confidence. To get depressed about it. I also know what it’s like to break free from the self-loathing and to walk with your head high and be strong. To truly live.
I am passionate to help women reclaim their lives, whether they’re starting from the ground up or just need a little motivation. There is no greater joy than to help someone get their life back. To feel more than happy and healthy, but to also feel BADASS!
I look forward to connecting and helping you do just that.
Cheers to Badassery!
